All Reception Staff have been trained to Care Navigate and will ask you some questions about the reason for your appointment.

They will follow a protocol and WILL NOT MAKE CLINICAL DECISIONS. All staff adhere to rules of confidentiality at all times.

We have a practice based physiotherapist, mental health practitioner, social workers, pharmacists and advanced nurse practitioners that are available to provide telephone consultations.

If you feel you need to speak to a health care professional, please ring 02897562929 between the hours of 8.30 - 10am - you will be put through to a member of the reception team who will take brief details of your ailment and an up to date telephone number for a call back that day by one of our healthcare team.  Please ensure you are available on the telephone number supplied to take a call back between the hours of 9am - 5pm that day.  Please note you can now avail of an advance prebooked telephone or face to face appointment with the GP, which could be up to 2 weeks in advance.

Home Visits

If possible please try to telephone reception before 10:00 if you require a home visit.

A doctor or nurse may phone you back as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by telephone advice, or that it would be more appropriate to send a nurse, or indeed arrange a hospital attendance.

House visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the surgery.

Please do not abuse this service, as it is reserved for housebound and chronically ill patients and in cases of medical emergency.

Teaching

We are an approved postgraduate training practice, which means we may have a GP Registrar in the practice for 6 months or a year. The registrar is a fully qualified doctor who already has a wide range of hospital experience, but who must spend a year with an approved practice before being eligible to work as a principal in general practice.

We are also an approved practice for the training of medical students from Queens University who must gain experience in general practice. If the doctor has a student with them, the Receptionist will inform you. If you would prefer to see the doctor alone please say so. During your consultation, with your consent, occasionally audio video recordings may take place for training purposes. We value your co-operation in this matter.
